A Culinary Adventure: Cook Something Bold Day

Are you ready to expand your cooking horizons? Cook Something Bold Day is designed to encourage us to shake things up with zesty ingredients like garlic and hot peppers to get our taste buds on fire. In honor of today, I decided to make Hummus and not just any hummus… but a hummus loaded with garlic and a hint of paprika to make a winning appetizer perfect for football parties and holiday dinners for the upcoming months. This isn’t just a great versatile snack – it is packed with health-promoting nutrients! The amount of protein and fiber from the chickpeas can help to curb our cravings and help balance blood sugar levels throughout the day. The recipe below makes about 2 ½ cups, feel free to adapt it in other ways since today is all about cooking with flavor!

Ingredients:
2 C of chickpeas, canned and drained
2-3 garlic cloves
1/3 C of tahini paste
1 ½ tsp of sea salt or Himalayan salt
Pinch of Paprika
4-5 T of lemon juice
2 T of water (Optional)

  1. Mince garlic cloves – use a food processor for ease.
  2. Add the chickpeas (once drained and washed), salt, tahini, lemon juice, and water together in your food processor. Process until the ingredients are coarsely pureed.
  3. Scoop into your favorite serving bowl and sprinkle paprika on top. Serve chilled, room temperature or store in the refrigerator to enjoy for a snack throughout the week!

All in all, the best way I found to help recognize this day was to use the imagination to cook something pungent and bold! You may be surprised with what you come up with! Have fun cooking and most importantly Happy Cook Something Bold Day!
