CAND Kick-off Event: August 28th

Get ready to start the 2013-14 nutrition year off right with a networking event at a NEW location on the Gold Coast!

I remember when I went to my first Kick-off Chicago Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics…I had just moved to Chicago, I had no idea how to get anywhere in the city, my internship was new to me. We went to Webster Wine Bar and it was a fun event! I made conversations with people I didn’t know and joined group discussions with other students and RDs. A lot of the people I met that first night, I’m still great friends with today.

A few years later and I’m now planning the 2013-14 kickoff event! We’re changing location and moving downtown to the Gold Coast to the upper level of Chicago’s new flagship Starbucks (1003 N. Rush – between Oak and Rush). Did you know that select Starbucks have an “Evening Program” where they offer beer, wine and specialty food? We have the entire upstairs to ourselves as well as some snacks and free coffee and tea. We even have our own barista if you want to order a coffe drink, beer or wine. There is street parking in the area and it is close to two different Red line trains. There is also a Brown line a little further. If you’re commuting, try and walk with a friend since the event runs 5:30-8:30 pm.

You may be wondering “why did we change the event location?”. I love Webster Wine bar, too. This year, we’re just trying something different that fits into our budget and fiscal plan. We chose a location close to public transportation based on feed-back from past events. I think you’ll enjoy the ambiance at this new location very much!

The event is FREE and you don’t have to RSVP, but it will streamline your check-in if you sign up as a member prior to arrival.

See you next Wednesday!
