I am extremely excited to welcome you to the 100th membership year for the Chicago Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the oldest dietetic association in the world. Our mission is to advocate for our members and enhance their contribution to the community as the credible source of science-based nutrition information. We have been doing this since our first membership meeting on October 27, 1916.
Our organization is made up of almost 300 Chicago-based registered dietitian nutritionists, dietetic technicians registered, dietetic interns, and nutrition students. The knowledge, enthusiasm, and camaraderie of our membership base have allowed us to flourish in Chicago for so many years. We would not have hit this momentous milestone without all of you. To renew your membership for the 2016-2017 programing year and to continue to participate in this historic year, please click here (https://eatrightchicago.org/join-us/).
If you have already renewed your membership, thank you for joining us for our 2016-2017! We have so much in store for you this year to broaden your professional network and enrich your professional development. Our new year will begin with our August Kick Off event and we will also host three member-only educational dinner meetings providing a total of 6 continuing education credits for the year. We will also be hosting a 100th Birthday Gala at the Chicago History Museum. The event will be held on October 27th and we hope you will be able to join us! Stay tuned for more details.
CAND also participates in a wide variety of community events, National Nutrition Month, and much more. Being a part of CAND provides a surplus of leadership opportunities including running for a board position, being appointed a committee chair, advocating for public policy and legislation, assisting with event planning, and writing for our blog or newsletter just to name a few! As a CAND member, you also have the opportunity to participate in Advocacy Day in Springfield and have the chance to win a scholarship to attend the Public Policy Workshop in Washington DC.
As a member of CAND, you have an opportunity to be a part of community of some of the best nutrition experts in the country. We hope to see you in August! Please feel free to contact me at any time if you want to get more involved.
