Topic: Dietary Supplements – Those Sneaky Bastards
Speakers: Christina Weidman, RDN CSSD LDN & Christine Jordahamo, MS RD CSSD LDN
4 Learning Objectives
1. Recognize the potential dangers of adulterated dietary supplements to overall health and well-being across the lifespan
2. Distinguish between low, moderate, and high risk supplements using third-party testing resources and label reviews
3. Build a dietary supplement education and review policy
4. Mitigate risk by understanding how to provide low risk alternatives such as food first, FDA-regulated products, or third-party tested dietary supplements.

Christine Jordhamo (Steinmetz) is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics currently consulting for both Northwestern University Athletics and the Chicago White Sox. Additionally, Christine is the owner of Busy Bean Nutrition, PLLC and works with high school athletes, endurance athletes, as well as private clients on improvement in athletic performance, weight management and overall health promotion.

Christina Weidman joined Northwestern Performance Nutrition in December 2016 as the second full time Sports Dietitian. Her mission is to empower student athletes to use food to fuel academic and athletic success. She is responsible for the development and coordination of nutrition services which include team and staff educations, development of clinical nutrition policies and guidelines, individual nutrition counseling, dietary supplement safety education, and fueling station management. Christina is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. She is a Past-President of the Chicago Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
