Date: February 28, 2024 5:30pm-8pm
Location: The Robey, Wicker Park, Chicago, IL
Presenter: Dana Lemke, MS, RD, LDN
Presentation Title: Using People Skills to Level Up Your Career
Ever heard of interpersonal effectiveness? It’s not always taught in school but its skills can help with building relationships, communication,  empathy, and more.  In other words, many aspects that are involved in being a dietitian.  In this presentation, Dana will share with you how she uses people skills in her current role as a wellness manager.  Whether you are a dietetic student, intern, or registered dietitian you’ll take away strategies to help you regardless of where you are at in your career.
Dana attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she earned her undergraduate degree in dietetics and her master’s degree in food and nutritional sciences.  While attending Stout, she was a member of the Blue Devil Dance Team and was awarded scholar athlete and graduate student of the year.  She then embarked to Chicago and where she completed her dietetic internship at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital.  In her first role as a RD, she provided one-on-one nutrition counseling to people living with HIV.  More recently, she became a Wellness Manager for FLIK hospitality where she is able to reach larger audiences via lunch & learns, cooking demonstrations, and other corporate wellness programs. In addition to her full-time position with FLIK she provides nutrition counseling services to individuals via her private practice with Fay Nutrition.  Similarly to other dietitians, Dana enjoys helping others and does so by helping to teach college students and interns.  She has been a guest speaker for undergraduate nutrition courses, her college dance team, and serves as a preceptor for the UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital Dietetic Internship.  When Dana isn’t helping others with nutrition, you can find her taking care of her cat Fancy, tending to her plants, or trying out a new workout class!
