Presentation: Inflammation: A Different Way to Think About Chronic Disease
Presentation Description: Chronic low-grade inflammation plays a central role in the development and progression of many diseases, including cardiovascular, digestive, musculoskeletal, atopic, and autoimmune conditions. While dietitians often address these diseases individually, understanding the underlying inflammatory mechanisms can provide a more integrated framework for prevention and treatment.
This session will explore the biological basis of inflammation and examine how diet, lifestyle factors, metabolic health, and the gut microbiome influence inflammatory pathways. Evidence-based nutrition strategies that may help modulate inflammatory processes will be discussed, along with practical approaches dietitians can incorporate into both clinical and community practice.
