Description: There are five basic tastes that work harmoniously to balance how we savor our food.  Salt is often the fall-back flavor enhancer, but employing the other basic tastes can have a noticeable impact on palatability.  See how balance sweet, sour, salty and bitter (and sometimes umami) can reduce overall sodium content of a prepared dish.  This session will include a simple interactive tasting activity to illustrate the concept.
