Recipes with A Story: Celebrating Family and Heritage
Family recipes are so much more than βjust a meal.β Family or cultural recipes can bring a sense of belonging and a feeling of home. Just the smell of a favorite dish stirs up emotions of comfort and joy and brings back memories of your childhood. For some, the act of cooking a dish passed on to you honors a loved one no longer with you.
For me, cooking dishes like collard greens, candied sweet potatoes, and black-eyed peas instantly reminds me of the holidays in the kitchen with my cherished late grandmother. She taught me how to cook them, and I make them now to celebrate and honor her.
Our dietitians from CAND shared some of their favorite family food memories with the Recipes with A Story series on Instagram. Read on to see their stories and recipes!
